How to Create a New PST File in MS Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is a personalized information manager and an email client developed by Microsoft which also includes emails, calendar, task manager, etc. Outlook saves the file in PST format. PST or Personal Storage file is the Outlook Data File which is used to store copies of message messages, calendar, data, etc. It is the local copy of the data stored in the computer for offline usage. POP account usually uses the Outlook Data File (.pst) format.

Method 1: By using New Items from Inbox

Open Microsoft Outlook.
Click on Home button in menu bar.
Now select New Items.

Then click on More Items.
Now choose Outlook Data File.

Next, type a name of your choice in the File name.
If you want to add a password, check on the Add Optional Password box.

Click OK.
Now type a password in both Password and Verify Password boxes under Create Outlook Data File dialog box and select OK.

By setting a password, you need to enter it every time that Outlook Data File (.pst) is opened. This is a very easy method to create a new PST file. You can now save all your data in this PST file.

Method 2: By using Account Settings

Open Microsoft Outlook.
Click on File on the menu bar.
Select Info Tab.
Click on Account Settings.

Now again select Account Settings.

In Account Settings dialog box select Data Files and then click on Add button.

Now save File name of your choice and select type as Outlook Data File (.pst).
Now click OK.

This is an alternative method to create a PST file.
